I think this is a more feasible explanation than one side just talking a tough game but actually being quite weak and unable to deliver on those threats.
The basic premise everyone should start any process of logical deduction from is that we live in a world that no longer has ANY coincidences...EVER. Maybe it never had them.
The Iranian 'attack' on Israel back in April was clearly theatre and was not meant to cause any serious damage or casualties.
If Iran or their Lebanese proxy Hizbullah actually want to inflict major pain on Israel, I assure you they very much have the means (in terms of military hardware) to deliver on that.
Putting Iran aside, even Hizbullah on its own can absolutely pose an EXISTENTIAL threat to the State of Israel if they ACTUALLY wanted to (or were ordered to do so by their Iranian masters, or the people those masters answer to themselves). Hizbullah is definitely not just another Hamas!
Interesting, so what's up with the talk that Iran is going to assassinate Trump? Is Iran also the scapegoat for the deep state? Or is that just a plot to remove them from being a threat to Israel?

My new daughter-in-law is Persian/Iranian, recently arrived to the u s. She doesn’t like to talk politics, but I know her cousin follows u s politics. From what I’ve picked up, many Persians endure what they see as a foreign ruler and a foreign religion imposed on them against their will. Persians are not Muslim. Their historical religions is Zoroastrianism. Yet they are forced to comply with Islamic religious requirements. They don’t like it. At least some Persian parents hope their children will escape the oppression of the Iranian dictators.

On her part, Israel has been willing to give away more and more land in exchange for promises of “peace” from the PLO in spite of the fact that its charter calls for the destruction of Israel and that its maps and those of the entire Arab world do not even acknowledge Israel’s existence. The fact that Israel has been forced to do so by the West is no excuse. For this she will be punished severely in what is called “the time of Jacob’s trouble.” (Jer:30:7) Yes, God will deliver her, but only after two-thirds of all Jews on earth have been killed. There is no more appropriate place and way to destroy the nations that have abused Israel than when they, in the spirit of Satan, come to effect once and for all what Hitler called the “final solution to the Jewish problem.” Believers are to meet together to encourage and exhort one another from Scripture, “so much the more, as ye see the day [of judgment] approaching” (Heb:10:25). There are rockets continually being shot into Israel by Hezbollah on a daily basis. Not many people are being killed, but some are. One couple was killed on their way home to their three children when a rocket hit their car. Even when these rockets hit outside of towns, there is damage. Israeli firefighters have had to fight the fires started by the rockets over the past months. There are also tens of thousands of internally displaced Israelis living in hotel rooms from the north and from near Gaza due to the ongoing terrorism.
