Giorgia Meloni (just to name one) has the appearance of having become such a disappointment... her metamorphosis from a champion of egalitarian reform to a proponent of totalitarian rule is practically an objective example of George Carlin's standup routine where he describes the political arena as "A Big Club... and You Ain't In it!"... and if one applies for membership to that club, despite any otherwise initial altruistic motivations one might have, there comes the eventuality where one MUST subscribe in lockstep to the prevailing dogma and prescriptive actions of the club, if for no other rational than survival... politically, and with ample evidence, quite literally.
In the words of a very good friend of mine who spent his professional life in the corporate world with high ambitions... "One must play by the rules in the hopes of someday making the rules."
The problem with that mindset is that the corporate arena, and by extension, the world's current political/economic system, is effectively unchangeable and at the same time unsustainable, and for a variety of reasons... and whether it's ultimate demise is brought about by war, economic calapse, social upheaval or any combination of those or other factors... it's ultimate demise is inescapable.
Having said that, I consider myself to be an optimist in that it's my belief that the final death blow to the current cabal of global hegemonic aspirations will be an elevation of human consciousness that destroys the current social status quo and throws us back into functional tribalism... Rinse and Repeat... For the time being, and the foreseeable future... choose your tribe well.
