About self sufficiency…. We moved off grid in 2000, after looking for land for 2 years. We have had chickens (layers and meat birds), sheep, milk cow, team of steers, and cattle. Many might think we are pretty self-sufficient and that we could make it pretty well if things went sideways, but…. I am dependent on others for hay for my animals, which means I am also dependent on a vehicle and gas to haul it here. I buy chicken feed. Ditto for that. We could get up our winter’s wood with bow saws and/or crosscut saw, but they will eventually wear out, so we would be dependent on someone who makes saws. The same goes for shovels, hammers, and other tools. Then there are nails and screws. I use cash exclusively (occasionally a USPS money order), even to pay my property taxes, but when the time comes that no one can buy or sell without the mark, I’ll be unable to pay my taxes. After three years of not paying taxes, the town can take the land (and the buildings on it). Despite all our efforts to be independent and self-sufficient, there are no guarantees.

About self sufficiency…. We moved off grid in 2000, after looking for land for 2 years. We have had chickens (layers and meat birds), sheep, milk cow, team of steers, and cattle. Many might think we are pretty self-sufficient and that we could make it pretty well if things went sideways, but…. I am dependent on others for hay for my animals, which means I am also dependent on a vehicle and gas to haul it here. I buy chicken feed. Ditto for that. We could get up our winter’s wood with bow saws and/or crosscut saw, but they will eventually wear out, so we would be dependent on someone who makes saws. The same goes for shovels, hammers, and other tools. Then there are nails and screws. I use cash exclusively (occasionally a USPS money order), even to pay my property taxes, but when the time comes that no one can buy or sell without the mark, I’ll be unable to pay my taxes. After three years of not paying taxes, the town can take the land (and the buildings on it). Despite all our efforts to be independent and self-sufficient, there are no guarantees.

Hrvoje, Paul didn't "plead" with people to accept the gospel. Have you read about how Paul wrote to and about those who propagate false doctrine or undermine correct teaching or who did not follow the faith as it was preached?
Galatians 1:8 "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed."
He confronted Peter, the head of the church, in public, about his hypocrisy and his error.
He refused to allow Mark to accompany Barnabas on his journeys because of his past behavior, to the point of breaking fellowship.
Consider, also, the harsh physical measures taken to protect the purity of the church, both by Paul and by God Himself:
1 Corinthians 5:5: "I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."
1 Timothy 5:15: "Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme."
Similarly, we read about the death of Ananias and Sapphira.

Pleading? That was how he introduced them to the gospel - a personal indictment in the harshest of terms.
Recall the indictment of Jesus Christ, as He called the Pharisees "serpents" and a "brood of vipers" even as they showed up to be baptized.
Yes, Hrvoje, the New Testament writers spoke OUT OF love, and love is patient, and love is kind, but it is also uncompromising and disciplined. Love is not making sure nobody is offended by what one has to say. It is defending the truth, to one's own detriment when necessary, according to the Word. It is forsaking our own judgment to be disciplined by the Word. It is not just saying that this is what I believe as others express their own, contrary views - because that is like subjecting the one true God to membership in a pagan pantheon, a cafeteria plan for faith. The early Christians refused to do it. The gospel claims exclusivity and THAT is what people hate - not the willingness to put it out there as a matter of personal preference. Others are more than happy for us to say "it's just my opinion" but things change quickly when we take the position that the gospel is an absolute, defensible truth - even as we mourn for their loss. Sorrow over their eternal fate of someone else and subordination to their demands so as not to offend are two different things. We are not here to get along with the world. We are outcasts and if we follow Christ, the world will hate us. Don't get confused about this. It is not the same as being deplatformed or debanked for political views. It is being hated for defending the gospel. That doesn't happen unless we actually preach it.
You speak of kindness in your podcasts, and of loving your enemies, but you have one of the most antagonistic attitudes toward your listeners of anyone whose information I scan. You call those who disagree with you idiots and snowflakes, and you take reasoned argument (against anything you have to say) and call it being triggered. I have written in defense of the gospel on many sites and, without exception, your response to me has been the most antagonistic - pagans, Gnostics, and atheists included. So what is this gushing, now, over the gospel? I'm glad to see it, but I'm not sure I'm convinced by it.
I would also urge you to be more discerning in your comments about Jews and the Palestinians. The current criticism of Jews is NOT what has been discussed in prophecy, as you suggest. That is nothing more than the appearance of similarity, on the surface. Further, to talk about unwarranted hatred of Jews is just a sleight of hand, a diversion from the real issues. The Palestinians are being slaughtered in the most cruel manner. Children are being shot. Disease and famine are tormenting them. They are humans, not pigs. Christians are among them. Conditions in one Israeli prison have been described by credible professionals as worse than Abu Ghraib. We, as Christians, do not avert our eyes, we stand against it. We have a message of love, but we are not beggars for the gospel. That is why, after the gospel is thoroughly rejected, we wipe the dust off our feet. We are told not to throw pearls before swine. We let the rich young ruler walk away without chasing him. Jesus Christ did not plead with him, He simply stated the requirement set before him as a matter of fact.
The gospel is a two-edged sword, not because of cruelty or arrogance, but because we do not make the gospel subordinate to the demands of sinful human beings or bow to their definition of what is socially acceptable. People will not turn to Jesus Christ because they like us. They will turn to Jesus Christ because the Holy Spirit convicts them of their sin. The gospel offers the promise of eternal life, but the gospel does not bend to the will of man. Men are sinners, the gospel is holy.
I am happy to see that you have finally hosted someone whose testimony seems to be that of a genuine believer. Others here have presented a serious risk of leading others into error while calling themselves Christians and, as you know, I wrote at length against them - Platonists, esotericists, those who pretend to expose the dangers of Neo-Gnosticism while mocking those who live by the Bible. I hope you will have more guests like Mike who are able to encourage others in the faith. It is hard and sad, but sometimes children pay for their fathers’ sins. An example is the rebellion of Korah and those who followed him. Numbers 16 tells the story. Verses 31-32: “And it came to be as [Moshe] ended speaking all these words, that the ground under them split apart and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. Previously, in verse 27, we learned that “[The Israelites] moved away from around the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. And Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the door of their tents, with their wives, and their sons, and their little children.” These are the ones that were swallowed up by the earth.
It is sad and hard that some innocent people are killed because terrorists are willing to endanger others after slaughtering people in Israel and taking others hostage. Thank you, but I already keep current with respect to events in Israel, and I follow all of the narratives and how they are being spun - and I also follow some writers with exceptional courage and integrity. The links you provide are not rigorous analyses, they are fluff pieces written to drive a particular agenda. As usual, verses relating to eschatology are taken out of context and applied incorrectly. Have you ever made a disciplined study of the prophetic passages for yourself, or do you rely on others to tell you what to think? The same is true for looking at Old Testament events as a model to shape our theology, as you seem to do. Have you studied Old Testament theology? Do you have a coherent framework? Or do you just take verses that suit your purpose and slap them into a substack post? You will never find any instructions for an Israel that has turned its back on her Messiah to pursue anything having to do with the land - not in Gaza, not in the West Bank, not anywhere in Palestine, not by displacing others when they first arrived, not by instigating war through acts of terrorism in other countries. The land will only belong to Israel, in God's eyes, when God gives it to them, when they will have returned to Him - AND NOT UNTIL THEN. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are lying.
If you care about the hostages, then why don't you care about Israel? What they are doing will only lead to their time of great tribulation. Although this will result, ultimately, in Israel recognizing her Messiah, why would you be so supportive of a series of events that can only lead to such devastation - exponentially greater than the loss of the hostages you count?

Yes. In a truncated form I was saying that Paul refused to allow Mark to accompany Barnabas if Barnabas were to join Paul and so, as a result, Barnabas did not accompany Paul because Paul objected to Barnabas bringing Mark along. I assumed the text would make the details clear. Thank you.
