I find a significant, and perhaps almost equal degree of agreement and disagreement with the points raised by Mr. Kaplan... most significantly on the disagreement side of the tally is his comments wrt Ukraine "somehow becoming a part of NATO"... in my understanding of the conflict, this concern on the part of Russia is the root cause... and an absolute unallowable event in the eyes of Russia... given that it would be viewed by Russia... Putin as well as everyone else in a position of power to prevent it.... as an extensional threat. If there is to be a WWIII type of situation with the exchange of nuclear weapons... Ukraine's ascension to full NATO membership would be the trigger that gets pulled.
I think back to how we were primed for acceptance of computers from the 60's onward; thatcomputers will be 'more secure, accurate, and cheaper' (we will save paper, there will be less redundancy). I remember the first Apples in 10th grade in my highschool that only the nerdy folks used at first. No one I know questioned 'computers' safety for us, until recently. A harbinger.

Don't you just love how Kaplan sidestepped and ignored the question about the rise of censorship and technocracy in the west by saying how western civilizations are unique? How are they unique when they perpetrate the same oppressive tactics used by communist dictatorships? This guy is as slick as any politician in his manipulation of the conversation. I'm surprised he agreed to an interview on G&E considering his mainstream diatribe. Hrvoje didn't bat an eye, however, and responded with his usual style of tact and professionalism. I'm sure this interview won't increase the sales of any of Kaplan's books by any members of this audience!
